Farm-road dust, freeway bugs and sprinkler spots, gently washed off by hand. Our exterior details clean and protect the paint, wheels and trim right where your vehicle is parked in Elk Grove.

Three exterior levels

Book an exterior-only detail when the outside needs the attention and the cabin doesn’t. Sedan prices:

  • Exterior Refresh, $129: pre-rinse, foam cannon, hand wash, air and towel dry, rim and tire detail, tire shine
  • Exterior Renew, $155: everything in Refresh, plus bug removal, clay bar, trim and plastic shine and wax
  • Exterior Reshine, $399: everything in Renew, plus a step-one machine polish and a wax buff

Dust is sharper than it looks

Out by Sheldon and Wilton, and on the gravel roads between fields, a pickup or SUV can be coated in fine dust after one trip. In town, new construction and dry summers do the same in a milder way. That dust is made of tiny hard grains. Wipe it off with a dry towel, or push a brush across it at a tunnel wash, and you drag those grains over the clear coat.

That’s why we never touch dusty paint first. We pre-rinse, then cover the vehicle in thick foam and let it soak. The foam softens and lifts the dust so most of it runs off before a mitt ever touches the paint. Then we hand wash panel by panel with clean mitts and rinse often.

Wheels, tires and wheel wells get their own brushes. On trucks that see dirt roads, the wheel wells and lower panels often take as long as the rest of the body.

Our process

Soak, wash, protect.

Dust scratches when you rub it. So we foam it off first.

01

Rinse

A full pre-rinse knocks off loose dust and mud before anything touches the paint.

02

Foam

Thick foam softens and lifts the fine grit so it slides off instead of scratching.

03

Hand wash

Clean mitts, top to bottom, with separate tools for wheels, tires and wheel wells.

04

Dry

Air blows water out of mirrors and gaps, then soft towels finish the panels.

05

Clay and wax

On Renew and Reshine, bug removal and clay come next, then wax. Reshine polishes first.

Commute grime and summer sun

A daily drive on Highway 99 or I-5 leaves a film on the front bumper, mirrors and windshield. In summer, bugs stack up fast. Left to bake in the afternoon sun, bug remains and bird droppings can etch into the clear coat and leave marks a wash won’t remove.

Renew deals with this. Bug removal comes first, then a clay bar lifts the bonded grit that a wash leaves behind. After clay, the paint feels smooth as glass, and the wax goes on evenly and holds up better.

Sprinklers are the other local habit. Many Elk Grove yards water early in the morning, and overspray dries into white mineral spots on the doors. Fresh spots usually wash off. Older spots that have baked on may need water spot removal ($100 per hour) or polishing.

Trucks, trailers and big SUVs

We wash plenty of work trucks and lifted pickups around Elk Grove. They get the same steps as a sedan, with more surface and more time. Running boards, bed rails, roof racks and tow hitches all get cleaned. Larger vehicles are priced by size, and heavy tar, sap or caked mud may need the $100 contaminants add-on.

If you also need a utility trailer or horse trailer rinsed, ask when you book. We’ll tell you if it fits in the visit or needs a separate quote.

Making it last

Wax adds gloss and helps water bead, but it wears off in weeks. For longer protection, a ceramic coating holds up much longer and makes dust and bugs easier to rinse off. If you want the outside kept up without thinking about it, a maintenance plan brings us back on a schedule.

Between visits, skip brush washes, wipe bird droppings off within a day or two, and use a clean microfiber towel, never a dry rag, for any quick touch-up.

How often to book

It depends on where the vehicle drives and where it sleeps. A garage-kept commuter in Laguna may only need an exterior detail every two or three months. An SUV that sits in the driveway and gets hit by sprinklers every morning looks better on a monthly schedule. A truck that runs dirt roads near Sheldon or Wilton every week may need a wash every couple of weeks to keep the grit from building up.

A good rule: if you can write your name in the dust on the hood, it’s time. Waiting longer doesn’t just look worse. The longer grime, bug splatter and bird droppings sit in the heat, the more likely they are to leave marks that need polishing to remove.

FAQ

Exterior Detailing questions

Can you wash a truck that’s covered in farm dust?

Yes. We foam and pre-rinse first so the dust lifts off instead of being rubbed into the paint.

Why not just use a tunnel wash?

Brushes drag grit across the paint and leave swirl marks. A foam pre-wash and hand wash take longer but are much gentler.

Do you clean wheel wells?

Yes. Wheels, tires and wheel wells get their own brushes on every exterior detail.

Can you remove sprinkler spots?

Fresh ones usually wash off. Baked-on spots may need water spot removal or polishing, and we’ll tell you which.

How long does the wax last?

Usually a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on sun and washing. A ceramic coating lasts much longer.
