Ceramic Coating
in Sacramento, CA

A ceramic coating gives your paint a slick, hard layer that makes sap, droppings and road film far easier to clean off. That matters in a city of street trees. We’re P&S certified, we polish before we coat, and we work in your garage or at our detail shop.

A coating for street-parked paint

A coating is a liquid that cures into a thin, hard, clear layer bonded to the paint. Unlike wax, it doesn’t wash off in a few weeks. It stays for the life of the product you choose, as long as it’s cared for.

For a Sacramento car, the big win is how easily things release. Sap, pollen and bird droppings don’t bond as tightly to a coated surface. They come off with a rinse and a soft wash instead of scrubbing, which is how most swirl marks get started.

A coating doesn’t mean you never wash. Coated cars still get dirty. They just clean up faster, with less effort and less rubbing.

What you’ll notice

Most owners see these changes right away:

  • Water beads and sheets off instead of sitting on the paint
  • Leaves, pollen and dust rinse away more easily
  • Droppings and sap wipe off before they can stain
  • A deep gloss that holds up through long, hot summers
  • Faster, easier washes, whether you do them or we do

Our process

Clean it, polish it, then seal it in.

Under Sacramento’s trees, the best defense is paint that things can’t grab onto.

01

Inspect and quote

We check the paint in good light and agree on prep, coating and price.

02

Wash

Foam pre-wash and hand wash to remove sap, droppings and road film.

03

Decontaminate

Clay bar and fallout removal until the paint feels smooth as glass.

04

Correct

Machine polishing removes swirls and haze so the coating seals in clean paint.

05

Panel wipe

Polishing oils come off so the coating bonds straight to the clear coat.

06

Coat and cure

P&S coating applied panel by panel, leveled and left to cure out of the elements.

What a coating won’t do

A coating is thin. It won’t stop rock chips from freeway driving on I-5 or I-80, and a deep scratch will still go through it. It also doesn’t mean you can ignore a dropping for a month in July. Bird droppings are acidic, and if they sit long enough in the heat they can still mark coated paint. It buys you time, not a free pass.

It also locks in whatever is under it. That’s why we correct the paint first. Swirls left under a coating stay there for years.

Plan on most of a day for the full job, and longer if the paint needs a lot of polishing. We give you a time estimate with your quote.

P&S coatings: 1, 3 or 5 years

We use P&S Detail Products coatings, and we’re P&S certified to install them. Pick the length of protection that fits how long you’ll keep the car:

Every option gets the same careful prep. The difference is how long the coating is built to last with proper care.

Longer coatings take a bit more time to apply.

  • 1-year coating, from $499: a good fit for a lease or a car you may sell soon.
  • 3-year coating, from $800: a solid choice for a daily commuter.
  • 5-year coating, from $1,250: for a car you plan to keep and want to look its best.

Is a coating right for your car?

A coating makes the most sense if you’ll keep the car for a while and it lives outside. That describes a lot of cars in Midtown, East Sacramento and Land Park, where parking at the curb under big trees is normal.

Commuters gain too. Bugs from summer evening drives on I-5 come off a coated bumper much more easily, and road film doesn’t cling the same way.

If you’re selling in a few months, a coating may not pay off. A Reshine Detail, which polishes and waxes the paint, gives you a strong shine for less. On a lease, the 1-year coating can make it easier to turn the car in looking clean.

Where we coat your car

A coating needs to cure out of the sun, wind and falling leaves. A closed garage is ideal. Under a street tree is the worst place, since anything that drops onto wet coating gets sealed in.

Many Sacramento owners live in apartments or condos without a private garage. If that’s you, our detail shop is the easy answer. You get the same P&S products and the same process either way. Prices start with a sedan in good shape. Larger vehicles and paint that needs more polishing cost more, and we confirm the price before we start.

After the coating, gentle washing keeps it working. Our maintenance plans use coating-safe methods so you don’t have to think about it.

FAQ

Ceramic Coating questions

Will a coating protect my car from tree sap?

It makes fresh sap much easier to remove. Hardened sap can still be stubborn, so don’t let it sit for weeks.

Can you coat my car if I live in an apartment?

Yes. If you don’t have a garage, or your building doesn’t allow outside service, we’ll do it at our detail shop.

How much does a coating cost?

For a sedan, 1-year starts at $499, 3-year at $800 and 5-year at $1,250. Larger vehicles and paint that needs more correction cost more.

Can I park on the street after it’s coated?

Yes, once it has cured. Plan to keep it dry and out from under trees for the first day if you can, and skip washing for about a week.

Does it stop rock chips?

No. A coating is very thin and won’t stop chips from road debris.

Do I need paint correction first?

We recommend it. A coating seals in whatever is under it, so polishing first gives you the best gloss to lock in.
